Beautiful and healthy teeth for a lifetime

Tooth preservation

The aim of tooth preservation is to restore the sick tooth’s function and form. After the corresponding dental diagnosis, we offer various filling therapy options differing according to type and extent and the applied material.

Inlays

Inlays are fillings that may consist of different materials. The have a better durability and more exact fit than conventional fillings (e.g. amalgam or plastic). The dental technicians in our own lab always craft inlays individually. Here we have the option to use different materials like gold or ceramic.

Gold inlays

Inlays made of materials with a high gold content are distinguished by very accurate fit, which helps to prevent caries on the edges for a long time and thus significantly extends the durability.
Gold is also a very biocompatible material.

Ceramic inlays

Inlays made from ceramic materials are also crafted individually after the corresponding tooth preparation and an impression. Besides excellent durability, the advantage of ceramic inlays is the aesthetically perfect adaptation to the respective tooth colour.

CERCON ceramic made of zirconium oxide – metal-free tooth replacement

We also craft tooth replacements made of Cercon ceramic in our dental laboratory with state-of-the-art technology. This innovative technology ensures metal-free, biocompatible and aesthetic tooth replacements.

Zirconium oxide is the basic material for the production of Cercon ceramic. With common bridges and crowns, the models are crafted from wax and afterwards filled with a gold or silver alloy. With Cercon, the technician also uses a model at first, but then this model is fixed in a computer-controlled device and the crown or bridge scanned. Afterwards they are shaped down to the exact millimetre. The fully-ceramic part is then fired in a sintering furnace, which results in even the most delicate bridges.

The advantage of tooth replacements made of Cercon ceramics is above all their biocompatibility so that metal allergies are finally a thing of the past. A tight fit and the heat conducting sensation ensure a high degree of natural feeling.
Another interesting aspect is the fact that crowns and bridges made of Cercon ceramics are radiolucent, which may play an important role in future dental examinations.

Therefore we will gladly make you an offer for reconstructions made of Cercon ceramics during a consultation.

Plastic fillings

Modern multi-layer plastics are very well suited to fill small and medium defects in the front teeth and side teeth region. The excellent adaptation possibilities to your natural tooth colour make this plastic material extremely aesthetic.

Tooth replacements, crowns and bridges

Crowns

If the function of a tooth can no longer be preserved with a filling or inlay, it is possible to fit it with a crown. In order to be able to support a crown, the sick tooth is prepared in such a way that it provides the required space. To ensure an optimum and accurate fit, impressions are taken, which serve as basis for the production of the crown in the dental technology lab. Up until the completion of the crown, the prepared tooth is covered with a provisional crown. After completion, the crown is permanently cemented onto the tooth stub.

The selection of the right material for the crown depends on the position and shape of the tooth to be covered. The metals, ceramics and plastics used here are supposed to correspond to the physiological properties of natural tooth material to the highest possible extent. In the region of the side teeth, the substructure of the crown often consists of a metal alloy covered with a ceramic or plastic layer in the colour of the teeth. All-ceramic constructions are recommended for the front teeth region and achieve a perfect result due to the aesthetic qualities of the material.

Bridges

A bridge is an artificial tooth replacement, which fills the gap left by the loss of one or several teeth. In order to close such a gap, stable neighbouring teeth are ground down to support the bridge construction. The mode of production is similar to that of crowns. Bridge constructions are also permanently cemented in place after the corresponding adjustments and checks.

As an alternative to a bridge, implants have the advantage that the healthy tooth substance of the neighbouring teeth does not have to be ground down for attachment purposes. Instead, the replacement is supported by a carrier structure implanted in the jaw bone.

Perfect oral hygiene is the prerequisite to prevent problems with crowns or bridges and ensure optimum durability. Regular check-ups with professional cleaning treatments and instructions by our prophylaxis team help to prevent possible problems.

Veneers

Ceramic veneers for a radiant smile
Veneers are thin ceramic shells glued to the front of the front teeth. They are a gentle way to correct undesired defects like discolorations and gaps between the incisors or damage to the incisors as the result of an accident. Also, if you are unhappy with the colour, shape or size of a tooth, ceramic veneers can improve the appearance of the incisors. Visible edges, which may occur with crowns, are prevented with veneers. Veneers have an extremely natural appearance and can hardly be distinguished from natural teeth.

Veneers only require a minimum preparation of the tooth to be treated. First a thin layer of dental enamel is removed under local anaesthesia. Then the dentist takes an impression of the tooth, which is required for crafting the veneer in our dental technology lab.
Then the finished veneer is once again checked with respect to the tooth colour and shape and then attached to the tooth with a special cement.

Bleaching

The bleaching method is a way to brighten tooth discolorations, which cannot be removed with professional cleaning. The discoloured pigments in the tooth are brightened but the substance of the dental enamel and the dentin is not changed.

We offer two bleaching methods in our practice:

Bleaching at home

At an appointment in our practice, we will initially take impressions of your upper and lower jaw. We then use these impressions to craft a thin plastic foil, a so-called bleaching brace, in our own dental technology lab. This foil is filled with a bleaching gel and placed on the teeth at night. After approximately one week, the procedure is finished. The resulting brightness factor is excellent.

Bleaching at the dentist’s office

A bleaching agent is applied to the teeth and afterwards activated by radiation with light. Oxidation removes the annoying colour shades.
Please note that plastic or ceramic fillings cannot be bleached, otherwise they may no longer match the colour of your teeth after treatment. You may experience slight gum or mucus membrane irritation during treatment as well as an increased sensitivity of your teeth. This irritation quickly subsides once the treatment is finished.

Bleaching is not recommended for very sensitive teeth or teeth with worn down enamel.

Prophylaxis

Good oral hygiene is the most important factor for preventing diseases of the gums and the tooth apparatus. Our qualified dental hygienists will show you how to optimally care for your teeth at home and the materials you require.
